A Classic Evening Kava: Gradual, Deeply Mellow, Grounding

One of the most popular kava cultivars in Vanuatu, Borogoru is prized for its balanced-heavy character and mellow profile. This classic evening kava is known for its slow, gradual onset and prolonged, complex character—a favourite among those who enjoy a deeper, more grounding kava experience.

Character: Balanced-heavy with a grounding body character and gradual mellowness—slower and deeper than heady varieties. Character builds gradually over 30-45 minutes and lasts considerably longer than lighter cultivars. Traditionally enjoyed in late afternoon or evening. A favourite for body refreshment after strenuous physical effort.

Taste & Aroma: Peppery and herbal with hints of sweetness. Flavour combines spice with fresh, grassy notes and bitter chocolate.

Instant Format: Traditional kava powder contains coarse, woody fibres that must be strained out before drinking. For our instant kava, freshly harvested roots are washed, peeled, and have these fibres carefully removed prior to drying and milling into an ultra-fine powder. This is why you can enjoy it without any straining or kneading—just mix with water.

A fantastic cultivar!

The brorogoru is my favourite out of the instant kava range. It is quite heavy yet you still get a good 1 to 2 hours of euphoria before the true body load and krunkiness kicks in. Can definitely make you a bit wobbly. I enjoy this kava in a higher dose than most other kavas and find it builds to a very nice plateau at about the 1 and a half hour mark, drinking on empty stomach. I like to load 2 or 3 shells first then do big shells every half hour. I've watched entire series on a session of this stuff and thoroughly enjoyed myself the n tried to watch the show without kava and find it very boring. A great relaxation, appreciation and muscle melting cultivar. This one can sneak up on you if you are not careful. My favourite way to enjoy this kava is a rainy night sitting outside appreciating life feeling the kavalcones swirl through your mind and body. I find this kava to be a good alcohol replacement after a hard day, it can have lingering effects the next day, but only if you over do it. I have been sober from alcohol for 1 year and 3 months thanks to using this cultivar to scratch that booze itch when it gets really bad. Note I can be doing 50 grams and upwards per session to scratch this itch. I'm a 95 kg male.
